The transcript is append-only. Nothing is rewritten, and nothing is lost when you clear.

Resuming

/resume lists the sessions of the current directory, newest first. Pick one and the transcript replays with its last provider and model; the next turn continues it.

History in the composer

Up and down walk the messages you typed in this session. A collapsed multi-line paste is recalled as its token, and expands back to the full text when you submit.

Why append-only

Messages are never updated in place. A turn appends the user message, the assistant reply and each tool result. That is what makes resuming exact, and what lets a crashed turn leave a readable session behind.
